Soft Tissue Mobilization

After an injury, the body builds up scar tissue to repair the muscles and ligaments.  This tissue is much like the body’s version of super glue.  Unfortunately scar tissue often forms between muscles, tendons, and ligaments.  There adhesions decrease you function, motion and often cause pain.

Purpose and benefits:

Soft tissue mobilization breaks up these adhesions thereby allowing better motion and alleviating pain.  This therapy also stimulates the body’s own healing process. Instruments are used to break up the scar tissue up to the patient’s tolerance.  As the adhesions are found both the clinician and patient will feel bumps or grittiness.  After a few treatments the adhesions will diminish, function and motion will be restored and pain will be relieved.  Also, blood flow is improved to the muscles, tissues, and organs beneath the area being treated and toxins are carried away restoring normal metabolic processes.
